My solo exhibition is now on view in Hamilton

This month, I was graciously given the opportunity to display my brand-new series of paintings β€œIn Search of A Quiet Mind” as the inaugural exhibit at the brand new VERO Gallery + Cafe in Hamilton. I created 27 original new paintings of various sizes for this exhibit. The idea was to create works that show various states of my process as finished works. Some are like stream of consciousness meditative paintings, while others focus on the deconstruction and reconstruction of both past discarded paintings and brand new works. The evolution of my work is always iterations on previous works, incorporating new ideas to push it forward. This collection in particular was about painting from a place of exploring process without worrying about the outcome. The process was completely intuitive and the majority of the works were created all at the same time in about two weeks.

More about the series:

This body of work explores painting as catharsis. The series emerged from a desire to step away from outcome-driven thinking, to instead inhabit a state of flow, where the act of making becomes its own purpose. While finding calm is the intention, my process itself is often restless. I work quickly and intuitively, revising, deconstructing, and reconstructing compositions. Through abstraction, my practice explores quiet, unresolved emotional states. Using layered paint, mixed media, and sewn elements, I build surfaces that hold softness and tension simultaneously. Imperfection and a visible handmade presence remain central to my practice, leaving space for ambiguity, inviting viewers to project their own emotional memory onto the surface.

This Series is currently on view at VERO Gallery + Cafe at 659 Barton St. East in Hamilton, ON, open daily from 8am-2pm.
